TOO MUCH

It was just too much,
too much and too sudden.
We both fell in love
too soon and too much.

I loved her too much,
entranced and bewitched.
I was crazy about her,
the rest didn’t count.

She loved me too much,
too wildly and too blindly,
forsaking her world,
and loosing it all.

Our love was too strong,
Too eager and too heedless.
We knew it was wrong,
and couldn’t care less.

It lasted too long,
and let come what it may.
But when we  were caught,
there was hell to pay.

The parting was sad,
too sad and too tearful.
Our love was too sweet,
but now life’s a dearth.
